The Grass Racing Autosport series had marked its closing of its calendar of championship events of 4 rounds this year. In the Pro- Grass Class Categories had seen Andy Kow bag the overall award scoring full point in the first two rounds and was behind in last next two rounds. It was a tremendous championship this year as the challenges were though and that many skilled drivers were on the pitch of the championship to give the very best challenges to the others and mostly to themselves, yeah, time attack events is more of challenging yourself than competing with other rivals.
It was a nice observation to the pro grass class championship this year as Ee Yoong Cherng gave a massive pressures to the other GRA regulars. Not only him, but William Lim was also in this spotlight of Malaysian Motorsports Tv analysis, for a guy driving a Suzuki Swift (A) but was giving it a full clean swipe off the time that manages him to be in the 5th placing overall. Very impressive the fact that William Lim is driving an auto transmission car but then clocked around other competitors which were driving Japanese tuned up cars and engines such as Jason Foo & Julian Pang with their Mivec engine, Andy Kow in Subaru Impreza, Ee Yoong Cherng & Ariff Johanis which thir cars easily has 200 horsepowers above .
When one of our crews talked to William Lim, he said that it was more of having the right line and apex, and other advantages may include the car setup –more anti roll bars to lessen the time loss and getting the grip at every intersection corners and moreover the hatchback swift gives advantages in ntering the slalom and also, the fact the machine he’s on is an automatic, gives him mor focus and attention to precision driving without much using his left food and shifting gears like the rest .William Lim, had thus justified that precision, and skills matters and it aint solely on what you’re riding. Like I used to quote ‘it aint what you ride but how you ride the machine that matters’ with a british accent though..hehe.
The challenges were also interesting to see that Ee Yoong Cherng gave it a blast to Andy Kow in the last 2 events. He was 1st in the third round and 2nd in the round 4. The way I see it, it’s a good ego booster for all the challengers and a healthy spirit of competition . This is where the competitors can gain an insight to their art of driving and sharing thought bout the car setup, and art of driving.
Andy Despite driving his Subaru Impreza may also benefit with his 4wd but some other factors that might restricted him from our point of view is the engine under his hoods aren’t an Sti engine. Which might give others the advantages. And as at round 4(the final round) hld in Putrajaya, William Lim was 3rd ahead of him on 4th placing which again might be due to the factor of tight slalom and advantages to William Lim on his hatchback ‘Weapon-X’ .But then again , Julian Pang was first and secong was Ee Yoong Cherng so, it aint much about the car size factor here.
Julian Pang, in his white Proton Wira manages to close the placing on 3rd of the overall championship. Ee Yoong Cherng absence in the 2nd round gives way to Julian to collect the championship point and there he was, effort and lucky to have the latter absence in the 2nd round. If we minus his points in the 2nd round of the championship , totalling it all up from round 1, round 3, and round 4 points and comparing it with Ee Yoong Cherng, his points are only 17 points compared to Ee Yoong Cherng of 25 points. A massive gap there of 8marginal points .
Some comparison to the top 5 of Prograss overall championship point with condition all running equal without 2nd round points (Ee Yoong Cherng didn’t compete in 2nd round) it would be as follows:

It can be seen from the above that the Andy Kow & Ee Yoong Cherng was equally fair at some point having both got 10 and 9 points from two rounds but Andy Kow’s advantage was his point in the first round leaving the latter 4 points gap and that point giving him the reserve till the final round 4 to finish as champion leaving just 1 point ahead of Ee Yoong Cherng.
Well, it seems that 2009 is nearing the end of it and we’re entering 2010 just around the corner. The 2009 had showed quite impressive shows from these comptitors despite there are only 4 rounds this year, could be because of the financial crisis which sees most of the industries are affected by it. With 2010 coming soon, we hope that there will be more rounds next year with more cars competing like previous years in GRA. As for 2010, MMTV has something in store for GRA  wanna know what? Then you’ll just have to wait and keep logging on to this site yea!!

Background:

• Started drifting in October 2007. To date, he gained approximately 11 months of drifting experience. He showed a lot of passion in drifting motor sport since the first day he started drifting. Even tough he’s still new in drifting, he learned drifting and developed his drifting skills in a very fast rate in just a few months time. He has the capability to adapt and change his driving style in any given time according to the car and track condition. When participating in drift competitions, he will always give his 110% best effort and utilizes all his skills and knowledge in order to reach his goal. He showed pure talent when he managed to qualify in a few drifting competitions, get into Best 8 stages and he even won the 3rd place in Stadium Hang Jebat Old School drift challenge in February 2008. After the success of Formula Drift Singapore, for the first time in Malaysia, they are coming to town near us.As the country that breeds drift champions and yea, first top 3 winners of Formula Drift Singapore 2009 are Malaysians (we are so proud guys) this time its our home ground the rivals we'll come into.

This events expecting drivers form neighboring countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, and also New Zealand and Japan. This is again the first time in Malaysia Formula Drift is held in our country and believe me it will be a rock solid smoking event of the year of Malaysian Drift scene and a good closing for the calendar year too :)

Air Asia & Malaysian Motorsports

After it was known to many of us with the coming of 1Malaysia Lotus F1 team, Air Asia, recently sponsored our Cubprix rider to compete in the 125cc motorcycle championship.

Another step taken by Air Asia in boosting up their branding through segments of sports and here particlularly motor sports.

Air Asia always had this idea of Blue Ocean strategy in implementing their business. using new approach, and creative ideas to 'think outside the box'. The way I see it??
I think its a great idea moreover an email was sent bout more than 6 months ago to Dato Seri Tony Fernandes on this idea of 'mobile advertising' through segmentation of motorsports in Malaysia.He replied. Even forwarded the message to his Branding guy , Mr. William which I cant get in touch into on which 'e- busy-brandind'AA man up till this day when the idea that I've proposed was floating with the branding guy was so busy and don't even replied/return any mails or calls. What is happening? Another sad story. Well. Just glad they did but what i had in mind was something more different even when they had implemented it now. Yea, yea, I know then when you are thinking of something, there will be more people had been and/or is thinking abut the same thing I had. But then, doesn't it reflect on the responsibility of the company to reflect on their keenness in customer service or even a simple suggestion that a person would like to give and share some ideas to them grow. Without prejudice some might speculate that it is another form of 'business-politicking'

Well let that be said its a normal thing facing realities of today . So, they are undergoing into F1, motorcycle, and what's next ? Apart from sports which they are involved in sponsoring the Malaysian TM Football League, EPL, Asian Basketball Championship league, The Raiders, it seems that they are looking more into segments of sports..hmm.

What about the grassroots sports and motor sports of other segments. I strongly believe that the the grassroots sports are to be considered too as Malaysian's have so many outstanding sportsmen and racers on which only they haven't had the chance. Look at Tengku Djan,Saladin, Fairuz Fauzy, Alex Yoong, mind to think who are their family members and connections ?? I'm here not to be prejudice but by the fact that most Malaysians are not really getting the real stuff that they should . Despite we have our Flying Sikh Mr.Karamjit Singh and Shahrul Yuzy, which are not well unlike the former name's mentioned above, WHAT IS HAPPENING? You ask yourself.I'm not a newbie in this industry even by a laymen observation , I believe that the feedback if you ask a those motorsports enthusiast out there the feedback would be the same that I have here. Don't believe? Then go on conduct a research on this topic and assign a research company on this.

Again , well done and kudos again to Air Asia. On taking a greater heights of motor sports scene.

Some suggestion of sponsoring motor sports segments in Malaysia:

1) Rally
2) Drift
3) Drag

Well..like what our local comedian Nabil used to say.. 'Lu pikir la sendiri!!!'

1Malaysia F1 Team

Recently Malaysians are made known that the country will be coming up with an F1 team next year and that it is the first time in the history of Malaysia that we will have our own team. To have an F1 driver competing in an F1 race is not an unusual thing anymore as we had sent Alex Yoong to compete in F1 race a few years ago under the umbrella of Minardi F1 team.

Most Malaysians gave a positive feedback on the action of having our own F1 team as the realization of the idea will give greater impact to the economy and growth for every aspects of the industry from the specialization of technicalities in automotive and motor sports as we have many local higher education promoting and offering courses on automotive engineering and also motor sports.In terms of economy it will promote the country around the world a symbol that even though we might be one of the small countries in the world but the driving power and forces of the economy of intelligence and capability of the people is the same as the 1st world country and thus and idol to other developing countries around the world.

But, will the outcome of this ideas realization will be a successful or another unfinish project in this midst of economic crisis, and of unstable local political scene. Let truth be told, this is the reality facing Malaysia. But with the people in the F1 team of the mastermind group such as Dato Sri Tony Fernandes and other giants such as the Naza group and also Petronas such pessimism is just a pinch of a salt and that I believe we can strive and ;let the best be out of it. Its a simple thing in life whatever bumps along this road of life always look on the bright side. Some pessimist said when they say the ad of the vacancy of 1Malaysia F1 team, they said 'do you think there are chances of getting any of these one post in the team? this is just a standard procedure, they will definately be recruiting people within their network of contacts,people like us, even if you're a graduate from MIT or Harvard, do you think you can get that even provided you are excellent person in your field ?

That, my fellow friends and Malaysians , is the realities of today. Lets even assume that the reality is not like what they claimed but then the realities in Malaysia had shaped their mindset into thinking that way. But then again, who are we, a normal ordinary person to gave such impact to the industry as whole. To be what we claimed democracy to be.

Drivers of the F1 team are still not confirmed as they are still in process of selecting on one of the current F1 drivers.

The 1Malaysia F1 team is a symbol of unity of the nation. How great that the idealism of the Prime Minister's Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak be implemented on this kind of segment of motor sports to show that 'we are serious ' in 1Malaysia concept and another prove is by naming the nations F1 team 1Malaysia Lotus . A symbol that exhibits the country's seriousness in showing that the world we Malaysians regardless of race, religion, age , background, unite as one.

With this implementation of the 1Malaysia F1 team, will the Malaysians have greater chance of to have see the team live on action at the track despite the high cost of getting to the Sepang F1 track? SIC had lowered the price tickets some time ago but would that be sufficient to give a chance to the people of Malaysia from walks of life to enjoy the sport and feel that we really belong and that by the name 1Malaysia F1 team. It might seem affordable for the people to buy the tickets of the low prices ones -definitely not grandstands, but the highway toll and fuel of getting to the track might be a burden to some people of the lower income group which they want to bring their family, kids to enjoy the sports. Motorsports as most of us know is an expensive hobby in general, and most of the people who are really into the motor sports are of middle to high income group, which they can afford to mods their 'cars to super-kapow power cars', or owning a sports car of Japanese and continentals, but think again, what will be of the lower income group? they can just only enjoy the sports on tv. There even might be a kid from the lower income group who dreams of having to see F1 in live in front of them , but they, might not have the chance to do it because simply they or their parents can't afford to bring them to watch live at the track. I believe with the good governance of the government, governing body, and sponsors of the 1Malaysia can do something about this matter in hand.

Leave the highs of making profits and power, sometimes we just need to pause in this life , think... and making this life, this soil of Malaysia a better place to be and that love..is life, life is love. And everything comes high above.. without His blessings we are just tiny super duper creature of His creations. :)

Basically the implementation of 1Malaysia F1 team is a good move, empowering knowledge of the industry for the nations sake, enhancing growth of the economy from every aspect of industry, creating more jobs and opportunities for the people, making this our country one of the most respectable countries in the world. More over is the advantages to the sponsoring organization such as Air Asia, Naza group, and Petronas empowering their branding, strenghthening their track records and attracting more foreign investors and vast client based.

well then, there is a never ending that lies ahead in this journey. lets wait and see what's in store for this 1Malaysia Lotus F1 team.

GRA 2009 !!! who will bag the overall award ?

Finally the waiting had come for the final round of GRA auto cross event.

Who will bag the overall award for the the best among the best ?

This year's race had seen the rivals of the rear wheel drive cars and the all wheel drive cars between the highly anticipated Ee Yoong Cherng, Ariff Johanis, and all time GRA favourite man , Mr.Andy'damn fast kow-kow' Kow. It was quite an interesting observation to see the close rivals are of the two type RWD and 4WD on which 4WD has greater advantages of traction compared to rear wheel drive cars such as driven by Ariff Johanis and Ee Yoong Cherng, both well known figure in the local drifting scene.

The rear wheel drive guys weren't competing as they were away on the 2nd round of GRA for a drifting event held in Singapore , an event which is highly well known with exposure across south east asia.

The first and the 3rd round of the GRA event had shown that its not anymore, that its
dominated by the 4WD cars as Ariff Johanis and Ee Yoong Cherng gave a very dynamic form of competition to Mr. Andy ' damn fast kow-kow' Kow. As known by many,in rally event nowadays, there are none rear wheel drive cars driven by the star drivers of WRC. And science had prove that front wheel drive and all wheel drive provides greater traction, thus giving advantages in not losing time giving greater grip and traction. Even this statement was seconded by the GRA Man himself who is is highly active in rally events, guy with family was actively involve in local rally events.

But then again, its a very subjective matter talking about the results of a race. Factors that may affect may include the car setup, horsepower which give real zest at the straights :) ,tire pressure, the cars condition on the race day, and finally, the driver himself.

I like to say it as 'its how you drive and ain't what you drive mate' with a British accent. haha. As the driver is the most dominating factor of the results.how skillful the driver on taking the lines, understanding the car's behavior,and mostly the mind power. Based on the analysis of the third round of GRA results, Mr. Andy 'damn fast kow-kow'Kow was behind Ee Yoong Cherng by 3seconds(average of 2 sec + Ee Yoong cherng clocked 1: 52:190 while Andy was behind at 1:55:8980, a massive gap there is. It could be because of the horsepower as the third round in Sepang was a race that utilizes long straights thus horsepower is a massive factor that may determine this outcome.

It is interesting to see these rear wheel drive cars giving and impact to the all wheel drive drivers as the latter has greater advantages on the 'launch' and traction at every corners.

Well, lets just wait and see what these favorites of us has to show and how they will measure up with each other, will it be a massive gap or a slight punch of gap like the local boy racer says... 'orang kata tak putus body la kalau side by side' hehehe.

Competition Format
- Participants will be divided into two groups based on judges' evaluation: Ace and Novice
- Depending on the total number of participants, there may not be a Novice group, where everyone will compete in Ace.
- All participants will be required to attend the drivers’ meet prior to the competition.
- Competition will be judged according to speed/throttle opening, drift angle, and lining.
- 3 judged runs will be given to Ace participants, best score out of the 3 runs will be evaluated and best 16 Ace participants will proceed to Tsuiso round.
- Best 16 Ace participants will be paired up against each other according to their position in the qualifying round. 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14, and so on.
- One warm-up run will be given prior to Tsuiso run. No warm-up will be given for Sudden Death. Participant with the higher qualifying position will start in front.
- 3 judged runs will be given to Novice participants, best score out of the 3 runs will be evaluated and winners will be decided based on solo runs. No tsuiso will be given to Novice participants.
- Podium winners will be given trophies.
- Judges decision is final. No protest will be entertained.

Rules and Regulations
- A minimal of SIRIM approved open faced helmet is required. Full face helmets are highly recommended. Helmets must be in good condition and worn at all times in the track, with the neck strap securely tightened.
- A minimal of 3-point seatbelts must be worn at all times in the track, drivers will be disqualified if found unbelted. A 4-point harness is highly recommended.
- Driver side window must be up at all times in the track.
- Shoes and Long Pants are required. A FR or FIA racing suit and driving shoes are highly recommended.
- All loose items in the vehicle must be secured.
- Brake lights must be working.
- Roll cages are not required but highly recommended.
- No oil leaks of any kind will be tolerated.
- Semi-slicks and full-slicks are NOT allowed. If you have doubt about the tire, please seek advice from the organizers.
- Please follow strictly the instructions of the marshalls and organisers. Participants with bad discipline will be warned or disqualified. No refunds will be given.
- The organiser reserves the right to decline entry or disallow a vehicle to enter the track if the vehicle is found unsafe.

Team Toyo Street Gymkhanna Results:

It was a wonderful event last weekend held in Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur.

The Toyo Street Gymkhanna kick start on saturday night on the car scrutineering, registration of the drivers, and also free practice run from 10pm up till 2a.m.

Total number of cars participating for this event is 30 cars and each cars were divided into the categories based on their car's engine cc's output.

On Sunday, the event kick start with the drift demo's by the Team Toyo Drift and at around 1130a.m the final timing round starts with kicking it off with the Class C ,then up to B , A, and O.

Each drivers were given 3 rounds to mark their timing for the circuit and that the final round of the event finished with the runs by the Class O category a6t around 4p.m. Later that evening the crowd was again were entertain by the taxi drift ride in the Team Toyo drift cars again, as expected, drift shows, comp, demo, easily attract a huge number of crowds coming to the event.

Prize giving were made by the Honorary Of Kuala Lumpur Municipal Council head to the winners, and the champion bags the trophy and walk away a prize of sponsors.

It was a nice event yet tiring. One of the MMTV crew, Hafiz, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer participated and finish second last in the clas O category and finish 26th out of the total 30 cars of all categories. Not bad for a first timer entering an event as this is his first time entering a motor sports competition event.Due to some technical problems to his cars(handbrake and wheels setup problem) can't really give the best shot of his set of skill and car potential. Anyway, bravo to all that had participated in the event and that will be looking forward for the upcoming events and thou the Spirit of Competition be with you guys all the time.

The event which starts as early as 9a.m was an outstanding event with 50 drift cars participating consisting of novice and expert category. On 22nd of January 2009, at 4p.m , Malaysian Motorsports Tv Team came to the launching event of the much anticipated local drift film, Evolusi Kl Drift 2. This is the 2nd after the first Evolusi Kl Drift which had hit the cinemas mid of last year which had hit RM4.5million in ticket sales from the local cinemas.

The event, was held in Digital Mixstage Studio FINAS in Ulu kelang. It was s spectacular event which sees the lauching of the film by some of the local wonders in the local film industry. Speeches were given out by the managing director of Skop Productions Sdn Bhd Y. Bhg. Datuk Yusuf Haslam, Grand Brilliance Sdn Bhd executive Officer Mr. Ahmad Puad Onah, FINAS head director Mr. Mohd Mahyiddin Mustakim , and lastly by the young director for the film iself, Mr. Syamsul Yusof.

Guest’s were treated for a hi tea after the introductions of the actress & actors which will be acting for the movie. Some new actress & actors in the movie includes Scha as Aleeya & Remy Ishak as Inspector Kamal. Syamsul Yusof as Zack, Farid Kamil as Sham, Aarn Aziz as Joe, Shaheizy Sam as Ery, Shaifudin Hashim as Zul, Hetty Sarlene as Vee, & Rizal Ashraf as Muz.

Zack is now a professional drifter and not a street racer anymore as last time. The heat between the two friends Zack & Sham is still there. Since the car accident that nearly took his life, Sham is not a drifter anymore with the broken leg cost by the accident.

In the mid of the heat between the friends, came a girl , who is also a drifter that envy the skills of Zack at the track in drifting. Joe, which also escape the from the previous accidents still has deep vengeance towards Zack and his gangs. Ery,also has deep vengeance towards Zack because Zack has caused his god friend, Karl to be in the lock up. While in the mean time , Inspector Kamal came in as suspecting some of the murders made by Joe.

Well ? How will then turn out to be? What will be the ending of the heat between he two friends? The rivals the two gangs? Will they manage to finish the race ? Lets wait for the much anticipated film especially for the drift enthusiast out there.

We are at the event day now with live coverage report from Muar right now.
The event day which started on friday night was an outstanding event espeially for the people of Muar, where they have the chance to entertain themselves with various activities being held at the event carnival day.

Its 531pm now , and right now the crowd are entertaining themselves with the drift tandem shows and freerun.

There will be the media press conference at 0800pm later afetrwards for the handing of funds collected from the event to Tabung Kemanusiaan Gaza NSTP with VIP's among are the ADUN of Muar, manager at the Majlis Belia & Sukan Daerah Muar.

There were various activities being held among are the fishing competition GP Joran Bagus 2009, Autoshow, stunt acts by the local cup riders, Drift tandem shows/freeruns, kids entertainment program.

Now , the screechingsounds of tires and wastegates can be heard from this MMTV booth not far from the track. There are about 20 cars participating in the drift run. Convoys from the drift club from Johor Bahru arrived last nite at about 9pm. There are massive turn out from the crowd as the organizeer claiming roughly about 10 000 crowds came to watch the drift shows/free run and the carnival. And it was 10 times more crowd turn up compared to the previous event held in december 2008 where our local Rally Expert , Mr. Karamjit Singh came down to Muar to conduct road shows and promo here at the exact same place in Dataran Tanjung Emas in Muar.

The event, organized by Majlis Belia & Sukan Daerah Muar, and is supported from various organization among are Majlis Perbandaran Muar, Ibu Pejabat Trafik Daerah Muar, National Fitness Council, Rattlezasia, Drift.com.my, RootMean Square Events, Xfresh FM, & Hot Fm.
The event, was promoted through various sites & media parties among are the Xfresh FM, Hot Fm, NSTP, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo& Sinar Harian.

It was a wonderful event as the location for the event is very near to the Sungai Muar, with the wonderful breeze of the winds making this place a very ideal and nice to relax on a weekend for the crowd.

This week we have our national go karter as the featured star of the week. Nabil Jefri. One of our promising talents and our future national F1 driver. Recenly, we were at the Menara Kementerian Belia & Sukan in Putrajaya for the Majlis Penyerahan Jalur Gemilang by the Minister of Youth & Sports, Y.B Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob for our local boys which will be competing in Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in La Conca circuit Muro Lecesse in Italy. This championship is grand championship which will be participated by national champions, more of like a world cup of go karting in motor sports industry. Nabil Jefri was there along with other national racers for the Jalur Gemilang Giving Ceremony. This cute bright kid was very humble to share some of his stories and experiences being one of the most promising national racer in which sees he was the Asian champion for 3 consecutive years.

When did you started go-karting?
It started when I was 8. I was watching some of my friends race and it all started from there. My first event was in Mofaz Go kart track in Sg. Penchala.

What made you into go-karting ? Was it self interest or family?
It was more of a self interest. I’m grateful to have such family who supports me in this sport.

Where is the training ground for you?
PLUS Speedway Circuit in USJ Subang Jaya.

What model is your race machine?
I’m currently using Rotax Max 125cc, its an Austrian made.

Who is your idol? Why?
The 2008 F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton. Because he got skills, aggressive & charming (laughs) I see myself just like him.

What are your long term plans and how do you see yourself 5 years down the road?

To be able to take part in F3, F2, & F1 and be part of BMW F1 Team(his dream team). And 5 years down the road, to be in Malaysian A1 team.

What are your target for 2009?
More practice and getting myself prepared for upcoming events. Learn more about the technical details such as the engines, car, strategies etc.

What are your favorite subjects in school?

Math and science.

Favorite food and drinks?
Spaghetti & Milo ais

How is your schedule like most of the days?

I will be at school from 730-130pm. Tuition from 2-430pm. I will hit the gym at least 3 times a week and practice during weekend at the track.

Nabil Jefri is managed and sponsored by Comma Motor sports. This young star from SMK Damasara Utama passed his UPSR with flying colors straight A’s and had targeted to passed his PMR examination with straight A’s again. A champ will always be a champ. Province events management , the organizer of 'Full Throttle' this time had travelled to Melaka to complete their series of their
second last event for the year 2008 before the next in Klang in which will be the closing for the calendar year 2008.

The team of Malaysianmotorsports.TV had an early preparation for the day. We arrived in Melaka International Trade Centre , Ayer keroh
at about 1030am. Preparations for the crews on the storyboard, camera setup, and planner for the activities to be done , was done earlier
before we hit the event.

Full throttle MITC Melaka was jam packed with spectators that came to view the very interesting activities that the organizers has offered
to provide full excitement and satisfaction. The event comprising of autoshows, exhibitons by the exhibitors, ICE and drifting.

It was an intersting event which sees a very big number of crowd came to watch the activities offered. The main attaction of the
event was the drifting and exhibitors activities. Marlboro came up with a F1 simulation game at their booth, along with their
sexy chicks of Marlboro which bring 'extra' excitements to the male crowds.hehe.

Falken tires was of the exhibitors, showing off
their vast range of very high quality set of tires. And some other exhibitors mainly from the modification products up to
ICE, which sees some very 'hot sexy mama jama' of their show cars which was fully loaded with all the expensive products.

Tne track setup for the drift event can be categorized as a small track setup which, also can be a tough job for the drifters to qualify with
sharp turns with short distance to the next corner. The weather for the day was sunny earlier in the day. As nearing 3p.m the cloud had gave the
signs of heavy rain and there it gies, it was raining at 3p.m. It was an interesting thing that the track was dry and later part was wet due the rains.
It was more like a suspense and intersting moment much likely when we watched some of the F1 race where in an event there was
the dry part and wet part of the track seeing the race machines had to come into the pitstop for a tire change and that ,
will justify which team, racer, and car has the best skills, setups, and strategy.

Most of the stars in the drifting arena was not there to be seen. More Drifters from the south and mid norhern part came to participate
in the drift event.We managed to catch some interviews with the drifters, and the organizer's of the event.

StarDrift Final Round was held in A'Famosa Resort ,Melaka on 3rd and 4th of January 2009. The championship drift Series was one of the most anticipated series among drifter and its follower.

After collecting points in previous rounds, Tengku Djan Ley from Team Bridgestone won the overall championship. Tengku Djan with his consistent drifting, concoure the series using his world-reknown AE86. For the 1st runner up, Tan Tat Wei (TTW) also from Bridgestone rocks the course with his famous Toyota TE71

Sepang Drag Battle round 3 2008

Since this is my first time writing such blabbering jabs about events and reviews for MMTV, rather than sitting around at home playing speed racing on Facebook…I hope you guys won’t put high expectation on me. Well, here goes..

On the weekend of August, MMTV crews went to Sepang to do coverage on the CamPro team.It took us for almost an hour just to walk past the gate from behind the pit stop entrance while Boss went to get the ‘wear even until the event finished and you hangout at a mamak stall in Subang’ wristband tag. As almost every SDB night’s, all their event was hell a lot of actions!!

I were entertained by some spectators ‘on the way’ to Sepang , a few street racers with cars so powerful like Skylines, Imprezas, Perdanas Satrias, Wiras, and even Kancils!!! They did a mini drag tournament with a major road conflict all the way from R&R Dengkil, up until the Sepang entrance, although they did not manage to over-take our Van equipped with ‘NOS’, they’re 2 lamp poles away no matter how they do.Plus our driver were so good that even when he drove on the left side of the highway, he kept drafting some cars with the speed of 60KPH .

Now, there are few categories( as usual) Class A,B,C,D,E,F, and G(CamPro). These CamPro categories have all those Alfa Romeo Looked-a-like Proton cars with the same drive-by-wire technology system and the same Cam Profile engine. the one that was left alone was that trying-so-hard-to-look-like-evo Waja CamPro

As the entrance regulation says, all competing cars must be using either S4PE or the S4PH CamPro engine though I think anybody using the S4PE will surely get their ass kicked by the rest S4PH with the 1.6L, I later found out that wasn’t true... if you want to know what I mean, come here and see for yourself!

I went to the pit wall area getting the race results, while Sherl (Our VJ) chasing here and there to get an interview from the spectators who kept declining. (I wonder what makes them scared of her..) En. Megat, a spoke person from CamPro team, did give out his opinion on the night’s event. He did named a few person that is at the top form in the team, two of them is Ahmad Firdaus Azman and Mark Darwin, both of them are driving Gen2

So competing from time to time, from 9.00 o’clock which when Our photographer was so excited where he keeps running here and there in the pit stop area taking pictures up until the time 3.30 o’clock ,when He only sits there on the side of the road making different faces showing the expression of wanting to go home..

The dilemma…

Malaysia has come a long way in the motor sports industry. The way I see the country’s growth and development can be considered quite ‘express’. At the rate of development we are moving today, we should be grateful as a nation that has been independent for 52 years, so many things had been developed compared to some other countries around the world.

I spent my end of the year holiday in Turkey in December 2007 . A whole month there spending time holiday and looking for opportunities despite the fact I’m also observing the growth and development of that country. It was a wonderful place and end of the year getaway for me there.

As I spent my holidays there, I was thinking to myself, ‘Is this country has an outstanding growth of development in terms of automotive and motorsports?’ I went to the bookstore and newsstand there looking for a car modifications magazine, and bought one. As I flip through the pages and comparing to the local magazine’s we have here, I can say that we are 10 times ahead of them. In terms of the modification’s product, the owners club there, the motor sports club there, and the modified’s car there, we, are still ahead of them. Even we are ahead in terms of having a Formula 1 circuit compared to them on which they only had it so far for less than 5 years now.(Sepang International Circuit was officially opened in the year 1998)

Malaysian has big potential for the motor sports industry with having a vast numbers of automotive products distributors, modifications products retailers, motor sports enthusiast and the level of motor sports events and exposure from the various types of motor sports events the media.

As I’m actively involved in the motor sports industry’s development and growth, I can see that , the dilemma facing by the industry are the sponsorship. We have and outstanding sports man in the industry, to name a few are Karamjit Singh, Fairuz Fauzy, Alex Yoong, Shahrul Yuzy, Tengku Djan Ley, and many more (we have so many outstanding sportmans guys). Not only looking at these stars, we also have the outstanding performers in such sports as drifting, GRA, mini bike, go-kart, dirt bike, drag racing and many more to name. But the level of exposure and the hardship will be the sponsors. How can a true and outstanding star expands his talents and skills when there is no sponsors coming in to consider the talent of that such person has and that he can and might be a world champion some day. I really think that companies out there should take part in helping all these outstanding and promising stars to grow to the next higher level such as to the international level and the domestic level. Definitely they should start off with the domestic market. As the domestic is the base for every growth before entering the international levels.

I know a quite number of promising and outstanding sportsman which their performance come to a part, is static, due to financial cost involves to upgrade the race machine. Drifting, for example, can be said, dominated by most of the tire companies, and there are only 10-15 distributor companies out there, but I got to know from an insider from a tire company, that there was a time, about 50-100 profiles of racers sending their proposal requesting for sponsorship. I ..was very shocked, as I got to know, wow, our sportsman out there knows, and has efforts to help themselves improves in their field of motor sports. But , lets face the reality, there are hundreds or more over thousand s of motor sports enthusiast (racer’s and race team) but then there are less than 20 tire companies in Malaysia. So, who gets the sponsors then? Only a few definitely, out of the thousands. What happens then to the racers who didn’t manage to close any sponsorship? Will their performance be static? (This is only of the drift segments, what about other segments of Malaysian motor sports such as drag racing, track racing, dirt bike, minibike, rally, etc?) I could say yes, as I believe comes to a level, the techniques are all the same, but what differentiates them is the machine’s capability and that my friend, is all cost. Unless you are a rich kid’s son or someone earning a high salary and capable of sponsoring yourself and preparing a very god race machine, and that could be it, to compete with other racer’s with sponsor’s on which they have more supplies of tires let say and more financial assistance to upgrade their race machines.

It is a waste al large to the country for having outstanding talents but their performance is limited due to the funding and sponsorship. It is also a waste to the companies, as to with If they do not come forward to give a helping hand in form of sponsor to the outstanding talents out there as the cost of sponsoring can be considered reasonable to other form of advertising on which they could focus on efficiency and effectiveness of the products branding

As this matter came in mind, I was thinking that the media, organizers and promoter, should do their part to give recognition to all these sports man even if the sports segment could be considered minor. Such recognition should come in terms mostly from the media, and also from the ministry. (This is just a suggestion and opinion).

Something like, an award for the outstanding and promising talents for that particular year in a particular motor sports segments.

Another thing is that, I strongly believe the medias, such as giant organization should come forward in a way more exposure will create better awareness of the sports, and newcomer’s in that particular sport indirectly will attract more sponsors to help the promising talents out there.

Again, as I’m writing this, I believe there are development’s in the industry that are coming in the way to make a greater growth and development and that the future of motor sports in the country will be at its peak soon in coming years to come.

Lets put an end to all these dilemma’s. Yeah!!! We will. Let us all work towards a better future!!

Malaysian Drift Challenge Round 2 Plus Speedway Plus Circuit

Selangor, 22December-Malaysian Drift Challenge Round 2 takes place at the Plus Speedway Circuit in Subang Jaya. The event, that is organized by Ministry of Youth & Sports with Kelab Sukan Bermotor Integrasi was a spectacular event which sees some of the performance of Malaysian top drifter’s. The event started off in the morning with the practice and qualifying round takes place and as the day passes by , we have the ‘Best 16 round’ where the best 16 drifters compete against each other to take on the title of champions. There were about 1000 people of the public came and getting themselves entertained by the sound of burning rubbers and the roaring of fierce drift car’s engine on the weekend. Crowd from youth and elderly came with their family members for a very spectacular event.

The champion of the challenge goes to Tan Tat Wei from Team Bridgestone, 2^nd place is Zulfikar from Team Falken , and 3rd place goes to Johan Norman from Team Goodyear. It was spectacular, with thrills and suspense to the drifters and the crowds, as the entire competing drifter’s were very outstanding and judging was hard for the judge. There were few rounds, that the judge had to give extra rounds as the two rounds of the ‘tsuitso battle’ was though (both drifter’s in the tsuitso battle had scored high points on the entering speed , angle, and throttle control) The judge for this spectacular event was Arif Johanis from Sync Optima a well known ‘old timer’ in the industry among its enthusiast and the emcee for the event was Shahril Asuan Ibrahim (Wanbra) another famous man in the local drifting scene from Feinto-D. All the drifters were very outstanding with maximum entering speed and angle. But advantages go to the powerful cars and mostly the turbo powered cars. Some of the drifters were outstanding but unlucky and got into an accident, Danny Loong from Team Caretex, third place winner of Malaysian Drift Challenge Round 1, losses control and hit the tire barriers but managed to qualify to the final rounds. With an underpowered car and a sunny day just makes a drifter like him hard to climb into the best 8 group. Kudos to Danny Loong on having such high spirit to finish the round even though was hard for him after the accident which sees some parts of the car’s been damaged. High times of the competition when entering into the ‘Best 8’ round which all the drifter’s were performing to the maximum.

There was an intense moment from the crowd and the drifters when during the tsuito battle between Mervyn from Team Federal & Oan from Team Goodyear . The tsuito were so intense and dramatic as there the crowd mostly seconded Mervyn to win the battle but the judge, Ariff Johanis has its points even after being protest by Mervyn himself and the round goes to Oan. Oan won and qualify to the next round. During the battle , Mervyn had showed an outstanding performances despite having some difficulties with the car.

A new comer to the Speedway Plus Circuit, Zulfikar from Team Falken had showed consistency and skillful drifting and is one of rising stars in the drift scene. He finished 2^nd place in Malaysian Drift Challenge Round 1 and again he made it to the 2^nd place for this round 2.The event finished at around 5 p.m. A demo ride of the cub prix was also held at the end of the event for honorary guess of the event, Yg Bhg Dato’ Haji Fathul Razi Haji Bakri, Director General of Ministry of Youth & Sports Malaysia before the tea time and prize giving ceremony to the winner’s of the Malaysian Drift Challenge Round 3 2008, and mark the closing of the calendar year of 2008 for the event.

CARE Latex made an impact through motor sports

A drift charity event was held on the 29^th & 30^th of November 2008 in Bukit Jalil carpark A where the funds raise from the drift’ taxi’ ride goes to charity of Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih. The event, that was organized by Drift.com.my managed to attract a vast number of crowds to the event and everything went smoothly as planned.

Carelatex condom made an impressive and outstanding advertising & promotions idea where the ‘safety helmet’ company sponsored one of well known drifters, Danny Loong for the drift event. Most of the crowds and people in the industry were impress with the company’s action by using the motor sports as a platform for advertising and promotions. Not a norm in the motor sports industry as most of the sponsors in the motor sports industry were mainly from the automotive related products and if it were to be something not from the automotive industry it would be the sports apparels company or energy drink.

Carelatex condom is not a new name in the industry as most of their products can be seen in most of the 7-Eleven outlets thorough out the country. They took up with the idea in seeing that a drift event can easily attract a vast number of crowds, and that this concept is something unique in creating greater awareness of their branding. Not only that, the company played the role of product in support and in conjunction with the World AIDS Day 2008 which falls on the following day of the event, 1^st December 2008.They believe this is something that they much least do for the society at large in creating awareness of the disease and its factor. The car driven by Danny Loong, made its debut with the company the day before this event which he participated in Malaysian Drift Challenge in Cyberjaya.

So far the car had been on mobile through events at different locations from Cyberjaya on 29^th November, Bukit Jalil on the 30^th November and in PLUS Speedway Circuit USJ Subang Jaya last weekend. Not only by having the creative work of art on the race machine but they also distributed free samples of their product to the targeted age group of users.

Root Mean Square Events is the company that had came up with the idea, concept and implementation of this. The Head of Special Projects of Root Mean Square Events, Mohd Hafiz Isa said in an interview, that the concept is something very unique compared to other forms of advertising and promotions where this concept fully utilizes the resources and has greater efficiency in terms of market segmentation and moreover motor sports events is mobile as most of the events are held at different locations throughout the nation. The concept is also cheaper than other forms of advertising campaign and believes that most company especially companies that are not from the automotive industry should consider this kind of advertising & promotions campaign where it is believe to create an impact to the public in a more creative way to give a strong impact.

He told us that the there is mobile service provider company that is in negotiations to implement this concept in near future where this concept is something new and unique compared to the conventional types to create greater impact of their branding and assisting in achieving greater sales target.

Well, we hope there will be more companies exercising this concept as much least supporting the local motor sports arena to a greater growth & development. This by far has proved that the motor sports has undergone a development to greater heights. Bravo!

ROTAX Max Challenge Malaysia 2008 10th August 2008

USJ PLUS Speedway Circuit 10th August 2008.

We managed to do coverage for the senior and junior category when we arrived at the scene. Overall the event was good, with the participations of great racers as well as good organization by the organizer. We have participants from various category, from seniors to juniors. We even have the one and only girl participant (Siti Shahkirah) in the junior category which was amazing! Amazing in the sense that this shows that this sport is not only favored by boys but also girls. Perhaps she can be our pioneer for Malaysia’s women motorsport. Who knows right!

On the other hand, not many audiences came to watch the race. Most audiences who came as supporters were parents and family’s of the racers. The weather was good, but it was quite hot that it made the track sticky and affecting the racer’s driving. Most racers were satisfied with their race, but they dissatisfied about the sticky track. Still, everyone gave their best performance on that day. Well, that’s all for our “ROTAX Max Challenge Malaysia 2008”. Hope to watch the event again!

A. RACER’S PERSPECTIVE

We have interviewed several participants for the “ROTAX Max Challenge Malaysia 2008” and this are their views on the event.

ROTAX Max Challenge Malaysia 2008 – ROTAX MAX JUNIOR

MUHAMMAD NABIL:

Our junior, Muhamad Nabil has been joining this sport for 5 years. According to him, the event that day was quite challenging and there was a tough fight between the racers. He said more that the weather was good but the track was a bit sticky due to the weather. Yet, it was still a good race for him. And as expected, he won the first place for the junior category.

MITCHELL GILBERT:

Mitchell was our participant from Kosmic Racing Karts. He said that the race was good and it was easier than the Europe race challenge. According to him, he started quite slow in the beginning but in the end of the race, he managed to catch up. However there was a crash in the later part of the race that affected his driving. However, he managed to grab the 3^rd place, congratulations to him.

ROTAX Max Challenge Malaysia 2008 – ROTAX MAX MASTERS

HARRY ANTHONY:

Our Masters participant, Harry Anthony, was the representative from SGR racing team. First of all, he commented that there were only few participants nowadays compared to the past 5 years. Just like other racers, he also mentioned that the track was a bit sticky. He hoped to achieve what he expected and we wish him good luck for his race.

ROTAX Max Challenge Malaysia 2008 – ROTAX DD2

OOI FEI HOONG:

Ooi Fei Hoong was our participant from the IRU1 racing team. He has been joining go-kart for 4 years, and this was his first year in senior DD2 category. When asked about his comment on the race, he said that the race was not really satisfying as there were only 3 rivalries in the challenge. Yet overall the race was good and it was up to his expectation after all. He won the first place in senior DD2 category, congratulations to him.

PARENT’S REVIEW:

MOTHER OF GILBERT ANG AND ANG KOK WEE:

While the participants were racing, we managed to interview one of their parents on the scene. Mrs Ang, as we later found out was a great mom, supporting both her sons in the competition. According to her, her eldest, Ang Kok Wee participated in the Senior category while her younger son participated in the Junior category. According to her, as parents they should support their child in what they are doing. “Anything can happen”, she said and further added that she does not put high expectation on her sons. As for preparation, she mentioned that her sons do practice a lot before joining any competition. We wish your sons “all the best “ in the future Mrs Ang!

TOYO DRIFT MALAYSIA SERIES ROUND 2

Later that evening, we managed to interview several drifters who participated in the Toyo Drift Malaysia Series Round 2. Unfortunately the event ended earlier than we expected that day, so it was quite sad that we missed the best part of the event. Still, we hope that you will be glad to hear some interviews that we got from the participants.

TENGKU DJAN LEY

We all knew who Tengku Djan Ley is right? Well, we were very lucky to have the opportunity to interview Tengku Djan Ley that day. We can say that he was very happy, as his team (Team Bridgestones) conquered the top 2 spot and he won the 2^nd place that day, with his teammate Ivan Lau as the champion. We asked for his opinion on the event that day and he commented that the event was very encouraging with lots of spectators who came by. The fact that there were many audiences that day brought excitement to him as he felt more encouraged to exhibit his best skills in front of the large crowd. The race was also quite stiff, with all the racers showing their best skills and performances. He found it very attractive that the participants’ skills have shown positive growth and improvement. And as he mentioned, Malaysian motorsport has now becoming on par with other countries. Once again we would like to congrat him for winning the second place with his new car. Amazing wasn’t it? All the best Tengku Djan!

IVAN LIM

Ivan Lim was the representative from Team Binter and he was one of the best racers on that day. He was very excited during our interview and he said he was more than happy when we asked him about his expectation for the event. According to him, it was a good event and well-organized as well. Other drifters were showing good performances too. “Everything is ok!” he said and added that the most important thing was that we have fun when we race. Of course, safety is the first priority. He also mentioned that he would like to improve more on his skills. With the high spirit that he has, we wish him the best in his future. Good luck Ivan Lim!

MR LOK SIFU

Mr Lok was a drifter from Kepong Drifter team. When we first saw him, he looked happy and satisfied with the race which had just took place. He said that the race was great and there were no weaknesses in the race. He added that his performance was good as his car was also in good condition. When asked about his hope in this sport, he mentioned that this sport could have improved more if there is a better track that is specially design for this sport.

Hello guys. Welcome to the official Malaysian Motor sports blog site. Firstly I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2009. Time flies aint it? We are now entering the year of 2009 and that there will be many developments in the motorsports industry despite , I believe most of us are worries with the financial economic global downturn this year.

Here at Malaysian Motor sports Tv , we are dedicated at bringing the latest info of the local motor sports scene where we believe that there are many outstanding sportsman (motor sports ) among Malaysian's , which they are very outstanding and promising. Most of the people here from Malaysian Motorsports Tv are also enthusiast of the industry. We saw that the industry are lacking very much exposure and form of recognition and thus we create and find solutions for the problem.

Most of the motor sports that we will cater for will be much of drifting, drag racing, GRA/autocross , minibike & go kart. We will , in the near future go into other areas of motor sports in the local scene such as rally, A1, Cubprix, Malaysian Super Series, dirtbike, and many more, and that will be undergone by stages.

The industry of motor sports in the country seems to have an outstanding growth and development among its enthusiast but then lacking exposure especially in form of productions from the broadcasting companies. Thanks to all the local magazine out there that they have made a job well done in boosting the automotive and motor sports industry , to name a few are Hypertune, Shift, Kereta, Extremekars, Putera , Malaysian Bikers, Torque and many more.
(sorry guys if I x mention some other mags..there are quite a number to name:)

In this site, we will gave the readers info on automotive & motor sports, from product reviews, talent/star highlights, event highlights, tech review, and interesting shows & videos on latest info and many more to name here. Just make sure you guys keep logging into this site to keep up with the latest development and info of the scene:)

We also would like to thank other forums and site for making the motorsports industry more colorful such are zerotohundred.com, drift.com.my, kcar, msportsbike, and others.

We hope by implementing such thing like this we much least boost up the industry for more exposure and recognition among the local talents and industry.
There are many development programs on the way for greater heights for the industry, just keep up with this site and we will soon come up with many interesting things to come ahead.
